  • Babcock Ranch Eco Tours - Punta Gorda Christy Piper: A group of 6 of us reserved seats for the swamp buggy ride. This is on an old school bus with no glass pane windows, and great views. They sell them in advance for certain times. The first ride before us was full. I believe ours was around 10am. It was not as full, so we got more room to move around when animals came up to one side of the bus. We got to hold a small alligator, which was cool. We got to watch our tour guide feed several wild animals, including turkeys, pigs, steers, deer. The guide was so knowledgeable about the property, history, and animals. She loved the animals. The tour guide made the tour exciting for both kids and adults alike. I had a great day! Just be sure to use the bathroom ahead of time. Because it is a 1.5+ hour ride, and no bathrooms during the tour. Well worth the trip!
Starry Night Florida - Port Charlotte Derrick&6Strings: Extremely awesome experience. Learned a lot about the Greek mythology stories for the stars & we had snacks, chairs, and mosquito repellent. I’ll definitely be doing this again, and bring someone else with me. Was a core memory I’ll never forget. Jason was awesome
King Fisher Fleet - Punta Gorda WinningVibes: The King Fisher Fleet Sunset Cruise is definitely a vibe! You need to book it now! Captain Alan and the crew were very welcoming, knowledgeable, and fun! The sunset views were absolutely stunning and felt spiritual! Thank you, Captain, for allowing me the unforgettable experience of steering the boat! Seeing that dolphin swim alongside us for most of the tour was icing on the cake! Will take this tour again!!!
Bissett Park - Punta Gorda Mabbel Perez: This park has everything you need for family fun
Bayshore Live Oak Park - Port Charlotte Rudy Triana: Park is currently under some repairs, but it’s still a nice place to walk your dog, take a walk yourself and enjoy the calming views of the Charlotte Harbor. You can also walk directly into the Sunseeker Resort, which is open to the public. If you’re just visiting the Sunseeker for a few hours, I recommend parking here instead of paying for expensive parking at their parking garage.
Florida Airshow - Josiah Ryan: Really awesome show. Parking is to be expected for any mass event. Show up early and leave a little early and you will be fine. Great variety of food and vendors. World class pilots. All in all, a very good time. NOTE: Parking for these kinds of events always sucks. Expect to wait upwards of an hour to bus a shuttle if you are leaving at the same time as everyone else. Besides that? AMAZING SHOW fun for the whole family.
Peace River - Punta Gorda Sue Crippa - Mata: Love boating and fishing on peace river
Cooter Pond Park - Inverness Marianne Szabelski: Although we live less than 5 minutes from this pond we had no idea it was here and full of Flora and fauna! All my man wanted for his birthday this year was to see a live gator in nature. We didnt see one we saw a few on top of several cooter turtles! Nice little walk convenient parking and hey its right behind the sheriffs department so youre safe as a baby.
Flying Eagle Wildlife Management Area - Inverness Carolyn Barnes: I sometimes have time between one State Park or another, so I love the Florida water management camp grounds. While here, I was the only camper. My dog and I loved walking the trails. The nicest spot visually was the bridge over the slough, which has a special ramp for Airboats to cross to the other side of the low bridge. There is one porta potty on the main road towards the bridge and a working hand pump of non-potable water. Good for hand washing and rinsing dishes. Not to drink. Sadly, there was one site that the previous campers abandoned a tent, mattress, bedding, in 2 big piles and a small brand new grill. I dont understand why people dont take their messes out with them, but my last SWFWMD campground was sililar. Otherwise, the camp was very clean, quiet except for an occasional airboat, and lovely to explore. I would definitely come here again.
Fort Cooper State Park - Inverness rex donahough: $3 for a car with up to 8 people and $2 for bicycles. You can see it all in 1 day or in chunks with a few 2 hour hikes at a time Quite a few bathrooms so you wont be left wanting Nice paved paths for smooth sailing or unpaved but mostly stable paths for the nature hiker with a bit of an exercise Fort Cooper is a lovely, well maintained park (like I had to search for a piece of trash to pick up) where you can get away from the city for a day or a few days as they have primitive camp sites. A Playground sited right up near the main section for what would set up to be an amazing birthday party area. If youre daring, there are a few spots to launch onto the placid lake and loads of opportunities to walk the waters edge. With plenty of info docs about native culture and a large bat box, nature is well respected here. There are also plenty of benches on the trails and oodles of picnic spots.
