5 /5 Patrick DuChĆŖne: I visited the John G. Riley Center & Museum for a project Iām doing for my public history course, and Iām so glad I did. Admission is $5 for adults and includes a guided tour of the John G. Riley house, as well as the Smokey Hollow Commemorative Park. Our guide, Hope was wonderful. We explored a āpre-exhibitā in the welcome centre called āLest We Forget: The Passage from Africa to Slavery in Americaā that gave a comprehensive context for how and why Black people ended up in the Tallahassee area, and included elements of West African cultures and stories. We then toured the main house and the newly finished Smokey Hollow Commemorative Park, which was very very lovely. The house is about to undergo a comprehensive renovation and I look forward to returning once that is finished. I think it will make the tour even better. Regardless, this house, John G. Riley, and the Smokey Hollow neighbourhood are important parts of Tallahasseeās history. I highly recommend paying a visit.
