Tavares Nature Park - Tavares (FL)

5 /5 Ashley Peterson: These trails are well maintained. Peaceful wilderness close to a residential area. Bathrooms at the Trailhead are clean. Not many people when I went. Dog friendly as long as they are leashed and cleaned up after.

5 /5 Remy Stevens: I love walking around this park. So many blueberries and some blackberries too. Saw a flock of turkey hens grazing this last trip, along with a bald eagle and various songbirds. The transition from hammock to scrub is worth exploring.

4 /5 Rachel S: I came here for the first time today, and its a nice walk. I saw quite a few animal tracks, a bald eagle, mushrooms, etc. Its quite muddy, especially in certain places where it looks like vehicles have been driving on the paths. There is a pond when you go in, if you take the path to the right. I saw a frog in the water by a tree. Lots of pine trees around in general. I didnt see any brochures at the front, but I guess theyre not really needed as it would be kind of difficult to get lost on the paths. The area is pretty secluded and quiet, I couldnt hear any cars going up and down hwy 19. I would recommend wearing some kind of spray for mosquitoes, because theyre everywhere. There is also a bathroom in the front close to where you park at.

5 /5 Brad Wing: Technically the park was closed on the day I visited. There are no signs telling you you cannot enter. I parked on the road and walked in. It looks like a wonderful place and theyre really not that many trees or branches down from the fall hurricane damage. Had an enjoyable walk with my dog.

4 /5 Frances Sanderson: I am only giving it a 4 star because it closed October 10, 2024 due to Hurricane Milton. If you enter, you enter at your own risk and the restrooms are closed. They are looking for volunteers.
