1 /5 Tara Holden: One Star – Extremely Disappointed and Frustrated
I’ve been a loyal customer of Ted’s Auto Repair since their days off Hwy 92, but unfortunately, things have changed drastically since the move. While it’s still a small-town shop, the customer service and quality of work have completely declined.
I recently brought my car in for an AC evaluation because it started blowing warm air. Ted quoted me $1,500 for repairs. I left my car, he worked on it for eight hours, and returned it to me with working AC—great, right? But just five days later, the AC stopped working again.
I brought it back, and they kept it for another full day. This time, I was told it was a different part and would cost an additional $1,300. I asked how a full evaluation could miss something so major. Instead of helping me understand, Ted spoke to me like I was clueless and told me “that’s what happens when pressure builds up.” Not helpful at all.
To make things worse, I got a second opinion from a reputable shop. They told me the parts currently broken are the same ones Ted supposedly just repaired. When I called to ask if those parts were under warranty, Ted insisted I was wrong and that the new, unrepaired parts were the problem. I’m stuck now—no AC, no clear answers, and no one wants to touch my car because the warranty ties back to a shop that refuses to take accountability.
It’s been four months in Central Florida heat with no AC. I work two jobs, my husband works full-time, and we care for our child who has ASD. This situation is not just frustrating—it’s unsafe.
I’m writing this to warn others: Do not take your car to Ted’s Auto Repair. I don’t care if you’ve used him for years or if he’s a “trusted” local mechanic. He no longer treats his customers with respect or stands by his work. Auburndale is a connected community, and I hope this review helps others avoid the stress and financial loss I’ve experienced.
