Wild Turkey Strand Preserve - Fort Myers (FL)

5 /5 Christopher Enix: This area was gorgeous and very easily accessible. Part of the trail is a paved path, but then it shifts into a flat sandy surface. Great for walking or running. There is also a little picnic pavilion and everything was very clean and well-maintained. Additionally, there are several information boards that provide the unique history of this area. Very interesting. There were not many people on the trail, but everyone I encountered was very friendly.

4 /5 Jennifer Alvaro: Went to this preserve during the week and it was very quiet. We encountered one other family there, a father and son. We didn’t see much in the way of wildlife. We did see some butterflies, a couple bees and a black racer. I think our timing was off to spot the wildlife. The path was nice to walk it went from paved, to rocks, boardwalks and grass. The parking lot was nice and the tables were good. We did enjoy the benches placed along the trail and the poles with markers to let you know your still on the path were helpful. Will visit again during the early morning hours or later afternoon to possibly see more wildlife. Would recommend any trail enthusiasts to check it out.

4 /5 Linda Cap: This was a nice trail for families and younger people, but not for senior citizens. Though there are some benches, the longest more strenuous parts of the trail don’t have any. Specifically there was a stretch I estimate as 1/2 mile where there is only a path of beaten down dead vegetation. Being 70 and fairly fit, I still found it difficult walking without having my feet tangle in the plants. More signage giving mileage past and future would have assisted in a decision to turn around or proceed. I enjoyed the WWII building remnants, but found the overall trail quite challenging.

4 /5 Darla Dume: 1.8 mile trail through several diverse landscapes. Parts of this trail are nicely paved and boardwalked. Other stretches are very primitive but well marked. Turned out to be a good workout from navigating the overgrown parts. Some interesting structures left from when it was a military base. Enjoyed the trail but probably won’t come back.

5 /5 Abbie Cessna: What a perfect place for a stroll. The trail is 2 miles long. It was so beautiful and I wish the trail was longer. I could stay here all day. Photos do not do this place justice. I came here with my friend and we saw so many birds and wildlife. The primitive portion is wet so be prepared with proper wet walking shoes!
