kristi b The grounds have been improving, the recent improvements in the landscaping, makes the campus a breathtaking sight of history. There are numerous resources for students to thrive in their academics; including mentors, academic coaching, libraries, study rooms, etc. The spacious study rooms are well equipped with whiteboards where the scholars have the ability to thrive as a collective. FAMU is well versed in student success and finding one’s identity. It’s a beautiful school, where beautiful dreams can be molded into reality, and where you can be awakened comfortably into the person you are destined to be.

Christina Hamblin We loved our experience at Scottsdale Academy. My son had amazing teacher(s) and I say all of them as although he had one teacher whose class he was in, I could speak with any of the teachers and they knew about and were concerned about my son. The teachers and administrators are truly involved with caring for the children and overall a great environment for families to bring their children to.

Taylor Brown We have been with Scottsdale Southwood for almost 2 years. We love it so much! They truly treat our daughter like family. We have 24/7 updates/access with the HiMama app. It’s so nice to have that reassurance throughout the day! I would highly recommend Scottsdale to any family looking for quality childcare!

Hannah Pitts I am a former public school teacher and I left an A school to come here to teach. My kids love the curriculum, they are excited to learn every day and I love teaching again! No computers, just traditional American education, the way all children should be taught. My kids are independent thinkers and are learning to ask questions and challenge ideas. We love it!

Galyna Dyakiv We have had an excellent experience with the school over the past three years. The teachers genuinely care about the students and their education, focusing not only on academic success but also on teaching them to be well-mannered and educated young individuals. My son has thrived in this environment, easily handling challenging assignments and making significant academic progress. The schools commitment to both the intellectual and personal growth of its students is truly commendable.

Marleshia After much consideration, I’ve decided not to move forward with Tallahassee Classical School. I left my visit feeling deeply unsettled. While I appreciate the time Kate Bauman took to assess my son, the overall experience was disappointing and, quite honestly, discouraging. During our conversation, she commented that my son might struggle if placed in the 3rd grade — despite acknowledging that he knows the material. She also made an unnecessary remark about him likely becoming friends with girls because he’s “soft spoken.” I fail to see how that has anything to do with his academic readiness. What troubled me most, however, was the suggestion that my son may have a speech problem — a comment made without proper evaluation and seemingly based on his accent, as our family is from Trinidad. It felt like a judgment rather than a professional observation, and I found it both offensive and dismissive. This was my first attempt at transitioning my son from homeschooling into a school environment, and sadly, nothing about this visit felt warm, inclusive, or welcoming. I had high hopes, especially since I value charter schools — my mother is an assistant principal at one in Poinciana, Florida — but this experience has left me incredibly disappointed. We won’t be returning, but I do hope future families are met with more care and understanding. Wishing you all the best.

Alex Phelps They kicked my sister out for being gay, in 2018. Every child hates their school so I didn’t leave this review for many years. Looking back as an adult it’s easier to compartmentalize the teachers you didn’t like or the tests you failed & say the administration here was dangerously complacent and only concerned with vain appearances. I did on many occasions witness a culture of indifference towards abuse physical & sexual, as well as disregard for children in obviously untenable home environments. It’s not cheap either, even if you fall within their charter contract they nickel and dime for every little thing, and you don’t even get anything better for it. County schools had bigger/better teams and extracurriculars who went on all the same trips as Florida High. The only value add all the extra money got for the students was in the fancy masonry and private bathrooms that made it ridiculously easy to do drugs.

6.School of Arts and Sciences at The Centre

Address: 2415 N Monroe St, Tallahassee, FL 32303

(16) Reviews School of Arts and Sciences at The Centre:

Alicia Steinbrink If I could give 10 stars I would! This school has been an incredible blessing to our family. The culture of the school is unlike anything I’ve seen at most other school we considered. The teachers and staff work very hard to instill the belief in each student that they are part of a family, that they are safe and loved, that their feelings are important and that respect and kindness towards each other is paramount. Because of this, I have seen incredible growth in not only my child, but in their entire class. The Conscious Discipline approach really empowers kids to advocate for themselves and for each other and gives them the tools to work through difficult feelings or frustrations without shaming them for being human. This is the same approach we strive for in our house so we have found this to be incredibly helpful! We love the project-based, hands-on curriculum and the plentiful enrichment opportunities the school provides. Our teachers have been a joy to work with. They have been very communicative and responsive, quickly addressing any questions or concerns we may have had and are always willing to meet to discuss our child’s progress, or offer review materials for us to use at home. We always know when a test is coming so we can make sure our child is prepared. Homework is given but is optional, meaning that if you feel your child needs extra practice with something, you are welcome to do so, but if like me, you feel that kids are at school for 6+ hours a day, five days a week and that unstructured play or family time is equally as important then this is an incredible model. It’s also true that there are no “grades” at this school which means that your child’s education is not defined by an ancient “A”, “B”, “C” rubric, but rather their progress is being monitored constantly by the teachers and each quarter you receive a report card with extremely detailed information about what your child has learned, how they have progressed from the previous quarter, areas they may need improvement and a plan of action for how to achieve that goal. If you are fortunate enough to get pulled in the lottery for this school, do not hesitate!

Elizabeth Phillips Our kids are the most precious gift we, as parents, have. Not only to cherish daily but to instill within them, in the short time we have, the values and beliefs that what we hope will build the f foundations of good humans. Like many parents, I spent a LOT of time and energy choosing a daycare for my daughter. The idea of whether to do public, charter, or private and then which one was something I thought I would dread when it came time to move to elementary school. But for us, the choice was simple. I knew we wanted to be at the School of Arts and Sciences at the Centre, or SASC. Conscious Discipline is a model that we valued beyond measure in the daycare we loved and when I heard that SASC also built their school on this, it was a no brainer. The fact that each and every safekeeper is also trained in this and that everyone lives and breathes it there, made our decision easy. For our family, the social and emotional growth and development of our child is critical. Academics are important, for sure but we feel that when a child is safe and able to feel comfortable in their own skin in a safe environment, the academic learning happens so fluidly. We have seen such growth in our now second grader. We absolutely love our school family and feel so connected to every single person that works and attends there. We also love how physically safe the school is. It is not easy to find and access and that makes me also feel very good, as a parent. SASC is not for everyone, I won’t lie but for those who believe in an educational environment that values the sel growth of every scholar (and parent) and believes in the power of building up an strong internal monologue within each child…. It’s like no other. I cannot imagine being anywhere else and our family is so grateful.

K-ErWin (X) Well, I did not have such a great experience. My kids were usually rushed over the school materials. I spent most of nights teaching them again the lessons. They came home with no homework. I had to request for Review packets before each exam. They got bullied multiple times. I felt the school is made for a specific class of individuals... In my case, I felt the urgency to remove my kids from SAS-C in the middle of the year, and re-opt the traditional way, where theyve been excelling better. I give 1 star, just because theres no option for zero.

Hilary Parsons Annsworth is an excellent preschool. There is minimal turnover. Most of the staff and teachers have been there for years. They’re very professional and genuinely love the children under their care. The school is clean and extremely well-maintained. The children are taught in developmentally-appropriate and creative ways. My daughter has learned so much. The children have a great time. My daughter loves going to school each day. Her teachers do an outstanding job with her and my daughter tells me how much she loves her teachers. I strongly recommend Annsworth Academy.

Anthony DeMarco UPDATE: Six months later, still nothing. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE. My experience with Success Academy at Ghazvini Learning Center has been nothing short of horrendous. Do not send your children there. Its a chore just to get the front desk to answer the main line. With such a prominent name attached to it, one would think the Success Academy at Ghazvini Learning Center, being mandatory reporters and having an obligation to our children, it seems like they would take action after receiving multiple valid reports of child abuse combined with the child being delinquent 99.9% of the last two school years. One would think Success at Ghazvini would be even more proactive given the prominence (infamy) of the last name attached to the child in question (my son) but months later, theyve done nothing.

Sylvia Calvo I enrolled my son during Christmas break, then was told he was accepted but he was placed on a waiting list. I never received a call so i followed up to check the status ,I was then told they were switching principals to call back months passed still no call back. it is now April and I was just told by Mrs. hatcher that my son no longer meets requirements, that they change the policy in February mind you i was told he was accepted in January. this school lacks the communication i am very upset with how they let my son fall through the cracks . Months of me consistently calling and getting the run around for them to tell me he no longer fits requirements is very upsetting seems as enrollment doesnt fit the requirements to be in administration.

Jessica Rountree They have made the neccessary staff changes needed for this school to created successful students. Mike McDaniel was awesome to speak with about the issues I faced with my child, and is passionate about the sucess of his students. I was super angry, and he was able to explain things to me in a manner that I understood, fixed the issues and mistakes on my childs transcripts, and helped ease my mind on the future students who would be entering this school. Changed my mind completely. Good for you Success Academy for caring about your students, and parents.

amelia piotrowski I have two children that have gone here since they were 6 weeks old and I love it!!! Anytime I ever have any questions about what my children did throughout the day any staff member that has been in contact with my kids can answer my questions (this proves that communication is #1 at the school). Any mother and or father knows that the hardest thing to do is leaving your newborn baby in somebody elses hands. Kinderschool welcomes any parents to come in and sit in during the day to get comfortable with the teachers, kids, and environment. The teachers set a really good routine for the kids and always have different crafts for the kids to do everyday!! When I asked my 2 year old who her best friend was the other day and her response was "my teacher" I knew this was hands down the most amazing place for not just my children but any child to be a part of:))

Royalty Love My son went to this school when he was 3 years old and the facility was very dirty and smelled like urine. He had only been here for two weeks as a new student and some random kid hit him in the head with a belt buckle which left a huge bump on his forehead. The teacher and administrator didn’t seem concerned of the incident and couldn’t explain why the kids were playing with a belt buckle! If you want your child safe and learning beneficial material while you work do not enroll them here. Run Run Run!

Zoë Williams I can’t say enough good things about School for Young Children or their amazing teachers. Our daughter has been going there full time for a year, since she was about 18 months old, and she absolutely loves it every single day. They’ve helped her become more confident, coordinated, outgoing, and well spoken. Every afternoon, she tells us about the stories she was read, the songs she sang, the art she made, and the games she played. She’s even taught us a couple new songs! I couldn’t ask for a better place for our daughter. She even asked when she was going back during a recent trip to Disney! I would recommend it to anyone, whether or not they “need” daycare because of work, school, or anything else. It’s a wonderful, safe place for children to socialize, learn manners, and expand their imaginations. The teachers are intelligent, well trained, alert, and extremely nice. The facilities are clean and well maintained; they’re great at keeping us up to date with what’s going on through e-mail, newsletters, and Facebook; and, their special activities like art shows, holidays, and field trips are always fun!

Cheryl Marshall School for Young Children has been an absolutely wonderful place to have my son. He is a very sensitive child who is slow to warm up to new situations. They have been kind, empathic, and developmentally appropriate in their interactions with him. He loves school! I cannot imagine a better place for my child to begin his early educational experiences. In fact, he often talks fondly about his teachers at home and we consider them part of our extended family.

Being part of a school built by the same team that shaped my own journey means you’re in for something truly special. At OSS, we built more than a strong academic foundation—we built a culture of curiosity, respect, and excellence. I know you’ll do the same in Tallahassee. In fact, I believe you’ll set new standards there, just like we did in Orlando. Take pride in what youre building. Be bold, be kind, and make it your own. You’re not just part of a school—you’re part of a legacy. All the best, Abdullah Q Class of 2022 Orlando Science School Alum
