1 /5 Stephanie Feliz: Extremely Disappointing and Stressful Experience
I made a purchase at Banter Jewelry and received a receipt confirming payment. Shortly after, a store employee tracked us down while we were shopping in another store, claiming the payment hadn’t gone through and demanded my credit card and receipt back. I refused to give her my card, which was incredibly alarming. I gave back the receipt but then realized I shouldnt have and I quickly returned to the store to retrieve it, stating clearly that if I had a receipt, the item was paid for, I left and walked back in the store I was shopping at.
While I was still in the store, I could see that they called security. I decided to contact my bank, which confirmed the charge had gone through. I showed this to the security guard, who agreed the case was closed. I then walked back to the store I was shopping in to complete my purchase. However, as we were leaving, we were approached by five police officers and the same salesperson. I had to re-prove the payment again by calling my bank a second time — despite already having a receipt and confirmation. Even checking my account a week later that the sale was posted!
In the end, I left with my jewelry, but the entire experience felt like profiling and an attempt to scam us. Thankfully, both security and police sided with us, but the stress and embarrassment were completely unnecessary by this store. I would not recommend shopping here, especially if you value respectful treatment and a smooth transaction.
