5 /5 K Stroud: We are early-to-rise travelers and were looking for a place that was open for breakfast. When the word “Diner” is in the title you should know what to expect. The crowded parking lot at 6:00 a.m. also confirmed our expectations: this was gonna be a great breakfast hangout. We were greeted right away by our waitress who promptly served us hot coffee. We both ordered the egg , meat, grits and toast option. It was served quickly and precisely like we asked: Eggs were perfectly over-medium; bacon and sausage delicious; and grits/hashbrowns done right. The Dixie Diner is not fancy but when you’re hungry and want a good, cooked-to-order breakfast at a reasonable price in a clean setting, this is the place to go. This little hidden gem is a place we will come back to on our frequent trips down Route 19. I look forward to experiencing lunch/dinner.
