5 /5 Steven Decker: I have not had one of my cars serviced at a dealership since I can remember, maybe never.
Probably assumed they would introduce their vacuum to my wallet (as in hospital charges), which would sorely disappoint them.
I recall talking with my salesperson Ferdinand about the first service, but it did not stick that it would be at no additional cost.
So when I arrived I was thinking only an oil change and tire rotation, should not sting too badly.
When the Service Manager asked if i wanted it washed, I replied with a very concerned "how much" ?
He said it was complimentary if I did not mind waiting additional time.
"Never turn down a free car wash" would be any healthy persons reply, but in hindsight I see he was more concerned about my wait time extending.
So what was a great service at a "free lunch" cost was more confrontational that it probably needed to be.
One hour and 13 minutes later, he walked in and told me "good to go" and handed me a ZERO cost invoice. Still recovering from that shock, but in a good way.
For future, suggest (1) to communicate that first service is "complimentary" or covered under warranty at time of arrival, and (2) include the word "complimentary" in the car wash request to avoid inviting the discussion that ensued.
Both things said would have completely disarmed me, and possibly even kicked off a "cheap charley" love affair.
All in all, love my new Trailblazer and love Ferdinand. Alan Jay delivers, thank you !
