As one of the few fully operational WWII ships in the United States, it allows visitors to freely explore almost every corner—from the massive engine room to the bridge, crew quarters, and cargo holds. The ship has been beautifully preserved and is filled with original artifacts, informative displays, and photos that help you understand the crucial role these ships played in wartime logistics. Walking through the ship gives you a real sense of the harsh conditions and daily lives of the sailors who served. The ticket price is very reasonable, especially considering the depth of history and freedom to explore. 4 /5 E B: Very educational and a massive number of rooms and areas to explore. You can roam pretty much everywhere in the ship, so great option for physical/tactile education. By nature, the ship is very poorly ventilated so its extremely inside. Like hotter than it is outside. They have several fans positioned throughout the ship and a "cool down room" that has air conditioning, but I would recommend bringing some sort of personal cooling devices and water if you really want to take your time to explore. We were so hot that we felt like we had to rush through and didnt get the full value of our entry ticket. Speaking of which, they offer lots of discounts (seniors, military, first responders, teachers, etc), but the standard ticket is $15 per person. With such a prime location (right next to the cruise ship terminal and the aquarium) and a relatively high ticket price for a self guided experience, I would have expected the ship to be maintained a bit better. Most of the military museums Ive been to take a lot of pride in taking good care of the exhibits etc. This was not the case here. Lastly, this would be an extremely inaccessible activity for anyone with physical challenges. Lots of narrow spaces and steep stairways. Of course, thats no ones fault, just would advise that it is taken into consideration when planning your itinerary. Strollers and wheelchairs are not going to work well here.

5 /5 Wonka Wonka: Its amazing walking aboard this ship. History just feels alive when learning about what that ship and its crew did. These ships provided a lifeline to the troops that relied on them to get them their supplies. Is it a big battleship or aircraft carrier? No. But is it just as important to the war effort? Absolutely. I really wish we could go down into the engine room though because I could just imagine what that looks like down there. If youre in the area and want to learn about a great Navy ship, stop on by and give a donation on the way out!!

Water Works Park - Tampa Iryna Miroshnychenko: This playground is located near the city center and not far from the well-known Armatour Works with a wonderful view of the river and a walking area. We visited this place with friends for the first time and we really liked it. The entrance to the site is through a gate, and the playground is fenced. On the territory of the site, there are gazebos, toilets, a playground with mountains, various sports equipment, and an area with water fountains that can perfectly cool your child. The territory is clean and well-groomed, and there are benches. I recommend visiting with children, and then you can walk nearby in wonderful locations.

Congo River Rapids - Tampa Justin Denaro: Waited in line for almost 2 hours for the amusement ride it was an okay ride definitely got soaked on the ride though its a hit or miss if youre going to get wet its like a 50/50 chance

Tampa Museum of Art - Tampa Lauren Hodges: Beautiful! Each showroom evokes different moods and allows guests to step into something new while remaining comfortable. There are always seats available, so dont worry about standing if thats an issue. The catwalk outside is a wonderful break from the gallery and has a great view of the Riverwalk and beyond! Well certainly be back!

Cypress Point Park - Tampa M Johnston: The parents came over for a visit & we all went to put our feet in the water. We all take for granted the beauty of the paradise we call home. We all love watching the planes land or take off there. Feels like you can almost touch them. No a peaceful remote park, if that what youre looking for. Its located very close to the airport. Planes fly just above the treeline so very exciting to experience, but in between that its a beautiful beach like park on the bay. Great for sunsets after which they close.

Iconic Tampa Bay - Tampa Dalila Mesa: Very nice to walk boardwalk and around the city in general. The area of the bay is love with restaurants and some stores. Like it better at night than day.

MacDill Park on the Riverwalk - Tampa Prasad Kaladi: MacDill Park, in downtown Tampa along the Hillsborough River, offers a tranquil escape from the citys busy atmosphere. The parks compact size doesnt take away from its charm, with its well-maintained landscaping, tall palm trees, and calming views of the river. Its the kind of place that invites you to sit on a bench and just take in the peaceful surroundings, watching boats drift by on the water. One of the parks defining features is its connection to Tampas history and its tribute to military personnel. The statues and monuments scattered throughout add a sense of depth and respect, reminding visitors of the citys roots and the people whove served the nation. Being part of the Tampa Riverwalk, the park is conveniently located for anyone exploring the area. It’s a perfect spot to pause during a walk or bike ride along the Riverwalk, offering a moment of rest and reflection. The park’s pet-friendly policy also makes it an ideal place for dog owners to enjoy a leisurely stroll.

Cracker Country - Tampa Christina Littlejohn: Cracker Country was great, but dont follow your GPS for the entrance. I followed GPS and couldnt figure out where to get in until I did. Follow what your tickets say in your email. There are many hands-on activities, almost all of them free. You can churn butter and then taste it. Wash vegetables freshly picked from their garden. Wash and iron clothes. Practice writing in cursive at the schoolhouse and learn about what a typical day at school was like. You can lasso a cow, organize oranges, watch and learn from the blacksmith, listen to beautiful music in the church. Stamp your own postcard at the printing press. Go inside a caboose and learn who worked on the train. You also get to play with old-fashioned toys. Pack a lunch and enjoy your visit with friends and family. You can buy some candy, jams, toys, and homemade items. There isnt much other food to buy if youre not visiting during the state fair. Its definitely a fun time and great learning experience.
