2 /5 Steve Talcott: I had been following a scheduled program to have an implant installed. Aspen had provided scheduled appointments to facilitate this program.
When I arrived yesterday for my scheduled 9AM appointment I checked in as normal. The receptionist was busy talking with coworkers about the weekend. Did not appear to be engaged with her responsibilities.
At 10AM I approached the front desk asking about my 9AM appointment. The same front desk person asked my name and then said she could not find my appointment. However, my name had been highlighted on the sign in sheet, indicating I had been checked in. She asked me to sit down and they would get back to me.
Finally at 10:30 I was told they would get me in. Noting the flurry of activity at the appointment desk it appeared they were rescheduling other patients. I was told they only had two dentists on duty.
When I finally was shown to the procedure room I was told they needed another x-ray to make sure there was enough bone graft to install the implant without hitting a nerve. Hitting a nerve could cause paralysis.
It is now 11AM and they wanted to proceed. At that point my confidence in the likely success of this procedure was extremely low.
I went to the front desk, offered to pay for the x-ray and asked to my x-rays sent to me.
I am contacting a Dentist who specializes in implants.
