1 /5 Khoa Nguyen: Spent $1,000 and issue still not fixed — misleading diagnosis
I brought my car in due to a rattling noise from the front end. I didnt know where the sound was coming from, but the shop diagnosed it as an issue with the front struts and quoted me $1,000 to replace them. I trusted their assessment and approved the repair.
After the work was done, the exact same noise was still there. When I brought the vehicle back, they said the problem was now the intermediate steering shaft, and quoted me another $1,000 — including a part that was marked up more than 3x retail price (Dorman Intermediate Steering Shaft to be specific) and $500 in labor.
They claimed this was a "second rattle," and that I came in originally to fix the struts — but I never asked for strut replacement. I came in specifically because of the noise, and relied on their diagnosis to fix it. Now I’m out $1,000 and the original issue is still unresolved.
This felt like a misdiagnosis and an upsell, and I’m extremely disappointed in how it was handled. I suggest anyone getting work done here ask lots of questions, get a second opinion, and don’t just take their word for it.
EDIT: In their reply to this review, they claimed that the second rattle "appeared" 2 weeks later, when I informed them that I was still hearing the rattle literally the following day after the original repair, and got diagnosed with "a second rattle" on the day this review was left, 3 days later. You cant make this up.
