2 /5 Anthony Kincer: My mother was placed here by Tampa general for rehabilitation of mass trauma wounds, and it has been disheartening to say the least. One nightmare scenario after another, I have documented the short comings/ borderline malpractice of some of the staff and the poor state of the facility itself. From just not doing her scheduled wound care to allowing her colostomy bag to literally explode and several times rupture actually causing an infection in her leg wounds which wasnt discovered until her room smelled of the infection. Her therapy bed which is filled with sand also ruptured from a nurses mishandling and my mother was forced to sit with open wounds in over 3 inches of loose sand for almost 18 hours before they finally moved her into another. By then the sand had filled into her leg wound so much they were forced to suction and clean it out. She has not been properly bathed in the entire time since being admitted. The two rooms shes been in so not have working air conditioning (she was moved from one for the same reason, only for the other to have the same exact issue) she is constantly sweating leaving her bandages and the wound itself moist all the time. Not all her caregivers are terrible, but most cant answer basic questions that we have, or refer us to wait for someone who speaks English. Coming on here to rant is not my intention, I just want her to have the care and treatment she deserves. Minus a few of the rotating nurses the hospital staff is mostly friendly but ineffectual at getting work orders through and actually having problems solved. The care shes been given is absolutely disgraceful and if it is not remedied my family is looking into possible litigation for neglect and malpractice
