Gibson County Park - Floridanatureman: Great place to stay next to the river, restrooms and shower need to be updated. Shower was pretty dirty and the pvc handles were hard to turn since they were broken. Toilet has to be flushed 3 times to get anything to go down. The sign on the wall behind the toilet explains this. Grounds are well kept, some road noise from the bridge. Shopping and dining is 15 minutes away no matter which direction you go. Boat ramp gets really busy on Friday and Saturday evening with people going onto the river, people were returning all thru the night to load their boats and go home. Gotta check out the frog picture from the mens room, pretty sure from his pose it was a boy frog.
Paynes Creek Historic State Park - Bowling Greenholly nagel: A hidden gem! A little over 3 miles of great trails, once you find the trailhead. Beautiful wildlife and sights! Even a suspension bridge! Interesting local history lesson and artifacts in the visitor center! Definitely worth the $3 entry fee. Easy to access restrooms inside the visitor center.
Solomons Castle - OnaMary Dettmer: Solomons
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ One of the most unique places weve ever visited! Solomon’s Castle is truly a hidden gem in Florida. The mirrored exterior is eye-catching, and the inside is even better—every room is filled with quirky art, clever puns, and recycled creations by the late Howard Solomon. The guided tour was funny, informative, and full of personality. You can really feel the heart and humor behind everything.
Don’t miss the Boat in the Moat restaurant—a totally one-of-a-kind setting. This place is perfect for families, road-trippers, and anyone who loves unusual roadside attractions. We stopped in for the Sunday Tour after a fun day on the Peace River. Totally worth the trip! Thanks for a fun visit, Mary & Peggy
Hardee County Wildlife Refuge - Zolfo SpringsDrew Z: We were happy to see this place fully re-opened after limiting hours for some repairs. This crew did an amazing job of rebuilding the walkways and adding some habitats. Great to see animals so well cared for.
Pioneer Park - Zolfo SpringsMichele Gentile: I was just driving along and I saw water and I pulled over and found this beautiful little historical area. Pioneer Park some of the original downtown is still standing. In the middle of the state here going east is very beautiful. If youre ever traveling up 64 or 70 and you see water you need to pull over its usually part of one of the rivers flowing through. Very relaxing and some even have benches and tables.
Barron Park - LaBelleGockley Tam & Alan: Cute little park you can fish at with restrooms.
LaBelle River Park - LaBelleDon Browne: Newest park in the LaBelle area, with several miles of trails along the Caloosahatchee River and through a wooded area to the north side of the park. A picnic table and parking area is located at the head of the trail and a porta-potty, unfortunately pretty dark inside when the door is closed.
