Kristen Bouchard I visited Heights Dental last fall and have been meaning to leave this review ever since, mainly to encourage future patients to be cautious and trust their instincts.
I’ve been to Heights Dental twice over the last few years and honestly, I’m surprised by the high ratings. My last visit left me feeling uneasy and felt like I couldn’t trust their care.
I scheduled a special appointment due to a sharp pain in an upper tooth when biting down over a few weeks that wasnt going away. By the time I was seen, the pain had eased a bit, but I still wanted it checked out. After X-rays were taken, the dentist came in for a very brief exam—he didn’t show me the X-ray, didn’t explain much, and quickly recommended a crown due to a “crack” on an existing filling. He was in the room for about a minute before suggesting he could start the crown immediately. It all felt rushed and impersonal, and I didn’t feel confident in the diagnosis—especially since there was no visible evidence of damage or sensitivity during the exam. Plus, crowns are expensive.
As I was leaving, I asked the hygienist if I could see the X-ray. He showed it to me, but offered little explanation—and honestly, I didn’t see anything alarming. The lack of communication and transparency was still a red flag for me.
I ended up seeking a second opinion elsewhere. That dentist reviewed everything thoroughly, walked me through my X-rays, and disagreed with the need for a crown. She also asked about my medical history and pointed out that my symptoms could be related to a known autoimmune condition I have. She encouraged me to follow up with my medical team instead of moving forward with invasive dental work. That’s the level of care and thoughtfulness I expect from a provider.
To be fair, the front desk staff at Heights Dental were always kind and friendly. But both times I visited, communication with the hygienist felt limited, and the dentist’s approach didn’t inspire trust. I’ve since found a dental office that takes time to listen, explain, and build trust, which has made a world of difference.
Just a heads up to current and future patients: trust your gut and seek a second opinion if something doesn’t feel right.
