2 /5 Matt Urse: I made an appointment with Custom Auto Center a month in advance so they could order the necessary parts for my truck and be ready to begin work upon drop-off. Despite this preparation, I was told when I brought the truck in that the repairs would take about a month—a timeline I already found excessive. In reality, it took seven weeks to complete the work.
Throughout that time, communication was virtually nonexistent. Custom Auto Center does not provide updates, and any attempt to get one is an exercise in frustration. Every time I called, I was told the person I needed to speak with was either away from their desk or on vacation. When someone promised to call back with an update, they simply didn’t. Repeatedly.
What makes this even more disappointing is the disconnect between their actions and the image they present. Their on-hold messaging talks about being a family-owned business built on community service, yet the owner was never available to speak and no one took ownership of the delays or issues.
When I finally got the truck back, the repairs were incomplete and poorly executed. There was overspray all over the vehicle—including the glass—which made driving dangerous in the Florida sun. A molding strip and a section of the truck bed were not properly repaired, requiring me to bring the truck back again to have the issues addressed.
I will update this review once the overspray, molding, and other minor repairs have been properly corrected. Until then, my experience with Custom Auto Center has been marked by poor communication, missed deadlines, inconsistent information, and subpar workmanship. I would strongly caution anyone considering using this shop to manage their expectations—or consider other options.
