5 /5 Tricky Woo: This was a really great experience and I now feel like I have an honest, reliable mechanic to bring my own car to. When I went to pick up my sister’s car after a tune-up and new tires, the front desk manager went over everything with me. Including a print-out w/the actual alignment figures on it. He explained that they were able to get every part into the acceptable range for that model, except the left front side of the car. He told me that the car would need new struts in order to make the alignment perfect. I asked him if he had included an estimate for that, should we decide to do it in future. He paused and then said “no”. Then he explained to me in detail, that the car was pretty old and worn and that we had just put new, much-needed tires on it, but that he could not, in good conscience, tell me that I needed to spend ~$1800 to replace the front struts (because we’d have to do both right and left), when the car probably would not last that much longer. I asked him if the car was safe w/o it. He said that the new tires are what made it much safer and that for the amount of driving we do in this car, we are okay w/the alignment not being perfection. I was very impressed w/not only seeing the actual numbers that showed the alignment had been done, but also w/the honest attempt to bring it as close to perfect w/o trying to upsell us on something that we don’t have to have given the age and state of the car. I’m new to this area but I plan on bringing my car in very soon for the same service now and in future. I’ve already told a few other interested people about my experience. This shop is not hurting for customers, that is plain to see, and I’m pretty sure it’s because they are honest.
