Learned such powerful history about Lawrence B Brown, a man born into slavery in 1856, but used his God-given gifts to break from the oppression and spread his wings ! Ms Patricia was our guide. She was extremely knowledgeable and made the tour very pleasant and enjoyable.

5 /5 Janet Ryder: We were in the area and decided to visit this home. Built in the late 1800s, it was an architects dream. The carpentry and workmanship were exquisite. Ms Patricia was an excellent guide whose passion for history exuded her presentation.

5 /5 Sunny Discoverys: Visiting the L.B. Brown House Museum was a wonderful experience that I highly recommend for anyone interested in history! The reservation process was easy, and the staff were very accommodating with the time we requested for our Saturday visit. The museum is filled with interesting details about Lawrence B. Brown, who went from being a former slave to a successful businessman and community leader. The tour was engaging and informative, showcasing Mr. Browns personal possessions and original features like wooden pillars and clay plumbing pipes (no longer in use). Finding the museum was straightforward, and there’s plenty of parking available in a grassy area, although street parking might be a better option for those with mobility needs. The tour lasted about 45 minutes and was really captivating, highlighting L.B. Browns impressive achievements. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, making it a must-visit if you live in or visit Central Florida. Im looking forward to the annual L.B. Brown Heritage Festival which is held every February; it promises to be a vibrant celebration of history and culture!

5 /5 Patricia Burgio: The volunteer, Patricia was an excellent guide. She is very knowledgeable and truly shows her expertise about the history about the property and house. Does not push you thru the tour, allows you to absorb everything. She is eager to answer any and all questions. You do need to make reservations in advance. They do not charge but do depend on donations, which you can do at the end of the tour. A great place to learn about history of a person going from slavery to becoming a beloved man of the community.

5 /5 Estefania Delgadillo: This historical home has been on my bucket list for a while and today I finally had the chance to visit with my parents. We were greeted by Patricia (who I had already talked to when I made my appointment) and she was so pleasant and kind from the start to the end when we left. Patricia gave us a full tour of the home; she is full of amazing information and explained each room with great detail. We were able to take pictures and look through items and documents from over 100 years ago. The house is well kept and well taken care of; it’s a great place to visit and step back in time. It was a pleasure to meet Patricia as well as Mr. Lewis, who made our visit so pleasant!

Hollis Garden - Lakeland Manda Mosoiu: I wish I could give it more stars. This place was like heaven on earth! Set on Mirror Lake, Beautiful views everywhere. Great for walking. Enormous family park adjacent. Garden Bistro had delicious food with lovely outdoor seating at reasonable prices. Worth the drive from Orlando.

Frank Lloyd Wright Visitor Center - Lakeland Pedro Svatetz: A must for architecture lovers The Frank Lloyd Wright tour at Florida Southern College was a fantastic experience. The campus has the largest collection of Wrights work in one place, and seeing his vision come to life in so many buildings is truly impressive. Our guide was knowledgeable and passionate, sharing great insights and stories that added a lot to the experience. Whether youre an architecture enthusiast or just curious, it’s definitely worth the visit. Beautiful design, fascinating history, and a unique part of Florida you might not expect!

The Ashley Gibson Barnett Museum of Art (The AGB) at Florida Southern College - Lakeland Alex J Walker: They have just installed new floors, the whole museum was immaculate and had some incredible pieces of art and sculptures to see and learn about. I especially enjoyed the Four Seasons which has just been restored beautiful.

Florida Air Museum - Lakeland Francisco Gasia: Sure! Here’s a short review in English emphasizing the F-14: ⸻ I recently visited the Florida Air Museum and had a fantastic experience. The exhibits are well-curated and offer a great mix of aviation history and hands-on displays. But by far, the most impressive part of the visit was seeing a real F-14 Tomcat up close. Standing next to such an iconic aircraft was absolutely surreal — it’s a must-see for any aviation enthusiast. Highly recommended!

Dixieland Dragon - Lakeland Patricia Riggs: Interesting, but its near someones yard. Residential area. Its a novelty for sure.

SUN n FUN Aerospace Expo - Adam O.: Such a beautiful airshow and perfect place to take anyone you know thats remotely interested in aviation all the way to someone who is flying their own experimental aircraft into the field to camp for the week. Aviators in the area cannot miss this annual event. Aspiring pilots or those looking to get picked up by airlines also should come, and come prepared to speak with companies at the career tent. There is great pilot gear, experimental aircraft parts, merch, and of course, the unforgettable airshow and thousands of beautiful aircraft that show up every year. Its impossible to not have fun!

Bonnet Springs Park Welcome Center - Lakeland Manny: This incredible park is a true gem and a source of pride for Lakeland. What makes it even more special is that it was created by the community, for the community. Since its opening just a few years ago, it has rapidly grown and was even ranked the #1 city park in the U.S. within 2–3 years. The park offers fantastic volunteering opportunities, each one not only contributing to its growth but also offering valuable learning experiences. Every detail of the park reflects thoughtful design and exceptional construction.
