Mahindra Sohan I called Wales Garage hoping to get some work done on my 1993 Ford Ranger. To my surprise, I was told the vehicle was “too old” for them to service. As a certified mechanic shop, I expected a more professional response. It’s disappointing to hear that a vehicle’s age alone would disqualify it from being looked at especially from a shop that claims experience and ASE-certified techs. I’ve never had a mechanic turn away a job for that reason. Definitely not the service I expected.
To respond to your response
It’s clear you prefer deflecting criticism with sarcastic and unprofessional responses rather than owning up to poor customer service. Your pediatrician analogy is insulting and unnecessary I called your garage expecting a straightforward conversation.
I did hang up, yes because after I said “OK,” you said absolutely nothing. Silence. No explanation, no direction, no courtesy. Just dead air. That’s not professional service, that’s bad communication.
If your shop has a policy of not working on vehicles older than 2001 that’s fine , but it should be stated clearly upfront at the very least, put that clearly on your website or Google listing so people don’t waste their time calling. The way this was handled shows a real lack of professionalism and respect for potential customers. I’m glad I didn’t take my vehicle there. Based on your tone, it’s obvious you don’t value customers unless they fit your preferences.
Thanks for confirming I made the right decision not to bring my vehicle to your shop.

Rocky Miller So, Had a minor repair done at this business a few months back. All was well. They diagnosed an additional problem I had and gave me an estimate for it. It was a little out of my price range at the time so waited a few months to have it done.
Long story short, I took it in for the repair at the estimated price. Found other issues, made them right. As it turned out, original AGREED UPON REPAIRS didnt take as long as originally estimated.
End of the day, even though other items were addressed, the bill was over $100 LESS THAN THE AGREED UPON PRICE. When does that happen?
Then, much to my surprise, the guy that came to pick me up was the owner, Ben Wales. Go figure. If possible, speak to Ben when you call. He is way more pleasing to deal with than the service advisor.
Make no mistake about it, I will recommend this facility, without question, to anybody needing auto repair.
My car happens to be an older BMW (2009). There is a certified BMW mechanic on staff. I guess they are very proficient in Subarus too. I would trust them with any make of auto.
Hope this helps.
