3 /5 Joe Pandora: I visited the ER in the evening, and at first, it seemed like the process would be quick. Within the first 20 minutes, my blood pressure and temperature were taken, and about 30 minutes later, I was brought into a room to speak with a nurse. Up until that point, everything was running smoothly—the nurses were attentive, and the technician was fantastic.
However, my experience took a turn for the worse when the ER doctor arrived. He repeatedly cut me off as I tried to explain my symptoms and showed little interest in actually listening to my concerns. His lack of bedside manner made an already stressful situation even more frustrating. After my ultrasound, I was placed back in the waiting room, where I sat for over six hours before finally receiving an update. When the doctor finally returned, he simply told me he had no clue what was wrong and left the decision up to me on whether to stay in the hospital.
I understand that ER doctors may not always have immediate answers, but a professional approach would have been to consult a colleague rather than dismiss my concerns so casually. I didn’t come to the ER to diagnose myself. Waiting six hours for a vague response was disappointing and disheartening.
The only saving grace of this visit was the kindness and professionalism of the nurses and technician. Unfortunately, the poor experience with the ER doctor overshadowed their great care. 3/5 stars – all thanks to the nursing staff.
