1 /5 Ron Siehda: A brief summery with a detailed explanation:
1. Be wary of Dr Wigley if his recommendations do not seem right.
2. Get a second opinion.
3. If you are from out of town and you need emergency dental work, pass on going to Dr Wigley. Find someone else.
4. In my opinion Dr Wigley misled me by trying to make money for himself.
Detailed explanation:
I cannot express strongly enough regarding how much I feel that his actions and inactions has resulted in so much pain and financial expenses that he has brought into my life.
I was in Jensen beach for a two month stay during February and March of 2025.
On March 15th a crown popped off from my tooth on the left side of my mouth, I needed to find a dentist. I chose Christopher J. Wigley because he advertised in the St Martin de Porres church paper the add stated that he was a "proud parishioner", I figured that he would be a straight shooter.
I had made an appointment for March 18th at 12:10 PM to have my crown cemented back on my teeth. In the office the staff was very friendly and accommodating, I had X-rays taken of my tooth. Dr. Wigley entered the room, I explained to him that I was here in Florida for 2 more weeks and didnt want to chew on one side of my mouth for the duration of my stay. I wanted my crown cemented back onto my tooth.
Dr Wigley examined my crown for about 4 seconds and immediately told me that the crown was broken and that I needed a new crown. He then proceeded to tell me that he probably could have a new crown made and set on my tooth before I had to check out of my condo where I was staying. I was concerned that the crown would not be finished in time and that I dont live in Florida full time. I wanted my normal dentist responsible for my new crown since I live nearby her office for the majority of the year. I decided that I would wait until I returned back home to see my regular dentist.
After I declined the new crown, Dr. Wigley proceeded to point out 4 other crowns that needed repair, (I knew of two crowns needed to be replaced because the porcelain coating on the gold crown has chipped away, my dentist is planning on replacing them later this year) Dr Wigley spent several minutes trying to sell me on replacing the crowns by him. He even said that many of his clients set up replacement programs when they come back the following year. He seemed to pressure me to do the same.
This is unbelievable because of the lack of concern for my immediate situation and how he could help me, but instead he was motivated to replace my other crowns. Why not make a temporary crown for me. He let me leave without any help.
For the remaining of my stay, I would chew exclusively on the right side of my mouth to avoid damaging the exposed tooth.
Unfortunately, a particular tooth on my right side has always been slightly sensitive to cold for as long as I can remember. By chewing on the right side only, it seems that I have accelerated damage to this tooth. Within a week this tooth had been distressed to a point that I had developed pain so bad that I was taking ibuprofen every 4 hours until I came home and saw my dentists. This condition I believe would never had happened if only Dr Wigley would have re attached the crown or made a temporary crown for me.
When I got home and saw my regular dentist, she looked at the crown and said there is nothing wrong with my crown. She cemented the crown back on my tooth and its been good since.
However, the sensitive tooth on my right side was now abscessed and required a root canal. Thanks Dr Wigley.
Dr. Wigley how were you not interested in solving my plight of the uncemented crown, but rather focused on giving me a sales pitch about replacing 5 crowns. Remember the crown that you said was broken turned out to be just fine. I can only see your actions as a money grab on a potential cash cow, me.
Dr Wigley, "proud parishioner" you pulled this low life behavior during Lent.
I dont know how this guy can look at himself in the mirror every day.
