They never said anything on the phone about the insurance when making the appointment. Makes no sense at all. What a racket! This is my first negative review every. If Im not happy I just move on but I cant let this one go...

5 /5 Daniella Jay: Cannot recommend dr Marquez enough!!! Came to the dentist because I was in severe pain, and needed to get my tooth pulled. I had a terrible experience with a dentist a few years back that made me extremely scared to come to the dentist again. After I explained this to her and her dental assistant, they were extra kind and gentle with me, didn’t rush my appointment! Was in no pain afterwards, and healed amazingly! I will be seeing her with my family for the rest of our lives!!

5 /5 marty heckscher: Dr Marquez is very good. It was only my second appointment but I felt very comfortable with all of the staff I interacted with. The office has state of the art equipment and is located very conveniently in the St John’s county/St. Augustine area.

1 /5 Paul Michael: I am in the middle of the process to get a full mouth of implants. It is difficult to judge the quality of the dentists at this point. The staff is something different. They act sweat and polite but appear lacking in competence. They misplaced two separate appointments and seem incapable of taking responsibility for errors. After taking impressions for a 2 hour period they called me, 10 days later, to retake the impressions because the lab needed "more information" . I asked for an apology and they claimed "they did nothing wrong" I asked what percentage of time they needed to retake impressions. They would not answer that question. I have paid the full $44,000 fee. I would recommend future clients to withhold a portion of the fee.

5 /5 Theo Stefan: Melissa does such an awesome job! Kind, professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. I brought in an immature patient and she handled him with grace and understanding. Oh wait, that immature patient was me! Seriously though, the treatment plan, front and back of the house staff, and location are all top notch. Thanks for the great care!

Dr. Jones explained everything with care and Lindsay did a great job cleaning. Everyone was happy, positive and laughing could be heard throughout the office. My bill was reasonable and I like the fact that Gordon bills my insurance and charges me an educated estimate of what my responsibility is for the procedure. New to St. Augustine so finding the right dentist is important for me and my family.

Every time I visit First City Dental, I receive the best service and great conversation. Rory Allshouse: I had a bad experience there. I was told by the dental assistant that I had a 50 percent co-pay for my crown and had to pay it up front that day to have the work done. I was also told all x-rays would be covered by my insurance, including the panoramic x-ray. I paid the 50 percent. They billed my insurance before I received the crown, and I had no co-pay. I had to get my insurance company to tell them they had to pay me back what I paid. When I went for my crown, the office manager/ biller argued with me and tried repeatedly to convince my that I had to pay the co-pay. When I showed her the Explanation of Benefits she tried to say I had to pay the amount the insurance didnt allow. She tried to say he was out of network. I had to show her the EOB 3 times before she would agree to give me my money back. I could not get a credit on my card that day. I had to wait until the insurance sent the payment, even though they should not have taken the money from me up front. She was very rude to me and never apologized. They took out the money for the panoramic x-ray. The dental assistant, the person who presented the estimate to me, never asked if I had already had one that year. She would have known it wasnt covered, since she looked up my insurance the day I called for the appointment. They also took out $79.00 for removal of the old crown. Removal of an old crown is always included in the price of a crown. They wouldnt bill the insurance company for that because it isnt an allowable charge. Its a form of billing where you unbundle the charges. An insurance company wont pay it and a patient should not be charged for it. If I hadnt requested my money back and got my insurance company involved, I would have never gotten my money back.
